Music can play many roles, interview with Ani DiFranco

A little off topic, but not so much really.

Just for the record: I adore this woman. She's probably achieved the best fusion of poetry and music of anyone I've ever heard. (Whether this makes for the best music is another question.) But I have to say that her theory that patriarchy is the cause of all our social problems is just profoundly wrong. Not that it isn't an important issue, and not that feminism, particularly radical feminism, hasn't made a contribution beyond that which it treats directly, but the word 'all' is just an abuse of other worthy struggles. And really is just insane.

But I still love her anyway...and her version of the song is the best I've heard.

But her best contribution to social justice remains, in my humble opinion, this:
