Botswana Strike Update

Well I guess I was wrong. The union agreed to the humiliating three percent offer by the government but asked that the fired workers be reinstated. This condition has been rejected by the government, so the strike continues.

"We are saying no to the conditions set by the unions. The strike has consequences and it is something that they knew and must accept. They must just go back to work," said Festinah Bakwena, head of the public service directorate

He said the Khama leadership constantly clings on to the Constitution to take decisions not good for the party. Moremi said the landmark constitutional case where Gomolemo Motswaledi and Khama squared off in court, as an example of how the law has been used to stifle democracy.
