Great piece. The author relates how the DuPonts played a role in Hemp's demise but the conspiracy extends far beyond them. It's worth looking into.
Hemp's major enemy now is Big Oil. It grows quickly and requires little fertilizer or pesticide. It's prolific and quite cheap to grow and can be converted into energy in a couple of ways. Hemp seeds are rich in oil and can be used for fuel. It's virtues don't end there, as Thomas Jefferson pointed out.
