This blog will be devoted to exploring why cost-of-living allowances are necessary for working people, and why the world's largest financial institutions are trying to take them away from us.

"What’s going on in Greece now is war"
Anti-government protests in debt-stricken Greece have turned violent. Demonstrators clashed with police forces after tear gas was used to disperse protesters. People in central Athens are protesting against new austerity measures to aid the economy.
They formed a human shield around the Greek parliament to prevent lawmakers from debating the issue Wednesday afternoon. Tens of thousands of protesters started to throw stones and firebombs at the police in response to tear gas.
Between 25,000 and 27,000 demonstrators were on the streets of the capital by the middle of the day, police said. [http://rt.com/news/greece-clashes-police-protesters/]

Greek anarchists hurl petrol bombs in anti-austerity demonstration
GREEK anarchists threw petrol bombs and clashed with police during a major protest today against fresh government austerity measures.
Dozens of hooded and self-styled anarchist youths hurled water bottles and stones at police outside the Greek parliament, and the police responded with volleys of tear gas, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Have you ever noticed how when cops dressed as anarchists do something outrageous, the media will refer to them simply as anarchists. But when real anarchists are engaged in protests they are referred to as "anarchist types" or "self-styled anarchists." Anyway, there is a strong anarchist community in Greece, and they have been active in the resistance for several years now, even providing security for protest meetings/gatherings etc.
