Diane Ravitch is a controversial figure in the world of education. Frankly, I don't know much about her, nothing more than a Google search reveals, but her article linked below I thought was quite good and in keeping with much of what I've been learning lately. Nevertheless, this post is not an endorsement of her necessarily, just of the article. No attempt is here made to give a balanced view of her or her life's work.
