Health workers strike in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to back contract demands

The workers include addictions counsellors, dietitians, pharmacists, psychologists, public health inspectors and health professionals in several other fields. Doctors and nurses are not part of the union...[union head Cathy Dickson] said the province and employers have understaffed specialized health-care professions, rejected demands for higher wages and benefits and refused to send the contract dispute to binding arbitration...The workers have been without a contract for two years. Talks resumed late last month, but broke off quickly and the union asked for a third-party arbitrator.
