Justice Department Retracts Court Filings That Undercut FBI’s Anthrax Case
Yes, that's right.
WASHINGTON -- Rushing into court to undo a major blunder, Justice Department lawyers defending a civil suit Tuesday retracted statements that question the FBI's finding that a former Army microbiologist mailed the anthrax-filled letters that killed five people in 2001.
But the unusual seven-page correction [3], filed in federal court in Florida, does not erase testimony from government scientists who challenged the FBI's finding that the late Bruce Ivins was the perpetrator.
The department's legal dance stems from its two seemingly conflicting roles: backing up the FBI's finding that Ivins, who committed suicide in July 2008, was the killer; and defending an Army bio-weapons lab at Fort Detrick, Md., against allegations of negligence.
Yes that is a conundrum for them, but there is a third role and it's the one which is compelling them to correct themselves in such a humiliating fashion, namely to keep alive the myth that the government of the US operates in the interests of its people. This is dangerous stuff for them. As it is they have admitted that one of their most senior and trusted biological weaponeers launched a terrorist campaign against the American people and blamed the murders on Islamic extremists. Now having one wing of the government gainsaying the official cover story threatens to incite debate, which is precisely what it is they long to avert.
Some might pose this questions: Since we know that the anthrax terror campaign was initiated by our government, and we know this is so because the government has confirmed it, and that this terror was intentionally blamed on an innocent party, how many other acts of terror directed against Americans finds its origin in our government? And how many have been intentionally attributed to an innocent party?
Anyway, As Frank Zappa said: "Government is the entertainment wing of the military/industrial complex."
