The good news is at least they are scared. The number of Americans who reject the 19-guys-with-boxcutters lunacy has been steadily growing. It NYC, most people believe the government had prior knowledge. This latest cover story--another variation on ye ol' tried and true incompetence trope--is an attempt to stem the tide of disbelief.
For 4 years I believed the official story, eventually the weight of information swung me to the other side. I must confess that for a long time I was stupid enough to dismiss the charges of the nay-sayers, initially at least mostly the loved-ones of the victims ( the Jersey Girls etc.), as being borne of grief and little else. Fortunately, others were more open-minded. I have never been more wrong about anything.
Since there is now a proverbial plethora of information confirming that several branches of our military-intelligence-finance complex had prior knowledge of the attacks, this next generation of disinfo will need an exculpating context, this story provides one. Richard Clarke, the career intelligence agent who was positioned by his employers as critic and friend to the 9/11 families, is using his undeserved credibility with the public to deflect responsibility away from the government. In this new "explosive" charge, which he admits he can't prove, he claims the reason the CIA didn't notify the appropriate offices that two terrorists were in the country was because they were trying to recruit them.
I am not going to bother to deconstruct this comical, desperate lie, other than to say it doesn't explain anything that acrtually happened on 9/11. It doesn't explain the failures of airport security, WTC security, the FAA's or NORAD's failures. It doesn't explain the bank heist, the switched planes, the dozens of explosions at the WTC, the vaporized steel, the thermite etc., etc., etc.
